RegattaPages privacy policy.
RegattaPages is a service provided by RegattaPages.com.
Information we collect
Personal information: your name and email address, and whatever else you enter when you register an account or enter a regatta — sail number, boat name, class, rating certificate details, and the contact details a race committee needs.
Server logs: requests to the site, including IP address and browser, kept so we can keep the service running and investigate abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies: one session cookie, set only after you sign in. See the cookies section below.
How we use your information
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:
- To run the scoring, results and tracking features you are using.
- To email you about a regatta you have entered, and about your account. We do not send marketing email.
- To find and fix problems with the service.
- To protect the security and integrity of RegattaPages and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and other illegal activities.
How we use cookies.
One cookie, and only once you sign in: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict and Secure, and it sets no Domain, so it is not shared with any other site.
There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics on this site. Your theme preference is kept in your own browser's local storage and is never sent to us.
How we measure traffic.
We count visits using our own software, running on our own machine. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
To tell one visit from another within a day, your IP address and browser string are combined with a random daily salt and hashed. We store the hash and never the address. The salt is discarded after two days, and once it is gone that day's hashes cannot be traced back to an address by anyone, including us — so you are not followed from one day to the next.
Each request records the page, the referring page, your browser and device type, and how long we took to answer. Pages also report screen size and standard performance timings. A full description is on the collector's own privacy page.
How we share your information.
Service providers: hosting and database infrastructure, the provider that delivers account and regatta email, and Stripe for payments. We use no third-party analytics provider and no email marketing provider, and we do not sell your data. Traffic measurement is our own software on our own machine, described above; nothing about your visit is sent to anyone else.
Legal and regulatory authorities: We may disclose your information to law enforcement authorities, government agencies, or other third parties if required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
Other competitors, and the public: entry lists, crew lists and results are published for the regattas you enter. That is what a scoring platform does, but it does mean your name, your boat and your finishing positions are visible.
How we protect your information.
Traffic to this site is encrypted with TLS, and the database is encrypted at rest. Passwords are stored hashed and salted, never in a form we can read. Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own pages, so card details are never entered on this site and never reach it.
Your rights and choices
You can access, correct or delete your personal information at any time from your account, or by emailing contact@regattapages.com. Published results for a regatta you actually sailed are part of its record, so those are handled case by case rather than deleted on request.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy if our practices or our legal obligations change. The updated policy is posted here, and if you have an account we will email you about any material change before it takes effect.
